In Memory of Alan Zelunka
Submitted by Gensco -
Dear Valued Industrial Community and friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Alan Zelunka, one of the pillars of Gensco Equipment and a beloved member of our industry community. Alan's journey with Gensco Equipment began long before many of us were here, as he was part of the third generation of a family dedicated to innovation and service in the recycling equipment sector, a company (General Salvage) originally founded by his grandfather in 1919.
Alan's passion for the industry was evident in his work and interactions. He specialized in selling recycling processing equipment and machinery parts, but more than that, he offered his extensive knowledge and expertise as a consultant to generations of scrap dealers across the Americas. Alan's warm personality and genuine care for his clients made him one of the most liked and respected individuals in our field. His presence at hundreds of international recycling association meetings and expositions over the decades left an indelible mark on the industry and those who were fortunate enough to meet him.
Alan's legacy is not just in the equipment he sold or the deals he made, but in the relationships, he built and the trust he earned from his customers and colleagues. His dedication and commitment were second to none, and his contributions helped shape the future of recycling technology and processes.
Alan is survived by his loving wife Michelle and his four children, Cheryl, Elyse, Mark, and Jennifer. His son Mark has been working alongside Alan's brothers, Sheldon and David, and the senior management team at Gensco, ensuring that Alan's vision and values will continue to guide our company.
As we remember Alan, let us celebrate the incredible impact he had on our industry and in our lives. His passion, integrity, and kindness will remain a guiding light for all of us at Gensco Equipment.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Zelunka family and invite you to join us in honoring Alan's memory by continuing to uphold the standards of excellence and dedication that he embodied.
With heartfelt condolences,
The Gensco Equipment Team
Regards,Sean Abenstein
